The following events took place before the All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries at Kramatorsk Technological College: the exhibition "Books - Anniversaries of 2017" in the reading room, bookcrossing, questionnaires to research readers' interests, and first-year students attended the educational event "Reading is a factor of success". that reading contributes to the creation of fully developed personalities. But the same thing often happens with reading as with exercise: no one argues about their health benefits, but not everyone devotes at least a few hours a week to sports. That is why reading is not a duty, but an opportunity to get aesthetic pleasure from learning about the world around us.
After watching a video about the benefits of reading, students learned that, first of all, reading an art book, we use our own imagination, complementing the picture described by the author. Later we get the understanding that a book is better than a movie because when we read it, we draw in our heads a picture exactly the one we like, not the director or the actors. Secondly, a good book reveals the characters, makes it clear how people behave in a given situation. Reading a variety of literature, we gradually become an erudite interlocutor, able to maintain a conversation on any topic. Third, through reading we increase our awareness, learn about what is happening in the world around us. The new knowledge and discoveries gained in the process of reading can be of great benefit. For example, we acquire the ability to see things from different points of view by reading different publications on the same subject, or books whose ideas differ from our own opinion. If we are going through hard times, we can learn from books about people who have been in similar situations, find out where they got the strength not to give up and move on. We must not forget that reading the masters of the artistic word has a positive effect on one's own language practice. By reading regularly, we improve our ability to express our thoughts. Unlike the knowledge we gain through film and television, only reading increases our mental activity, because thanks to it we are forced to build our own fictional world, and not get ready-made visual images. And we can become more productive, make better use of technology, take advantage of other people's experience, experience other people's adventures and much more. Constantly getting new ideas from books helps to develop the ability to generate your own.
All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries is a holiday not only professional, but also national, because everyone has been to the library at least once in their life!
