December 6 - Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

History and traditions of the holiday

     The Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeared in 1993, and its date is timed to a very important event in the history of our country. After the proclamation of Ukraine's independence, the preparation of the legal framework for the creation of a national armed forces began. It was on December 6, 1991 that the Verkhovna Rada approved two important laws "On Defense of Ukraine" and "On the Armed Forces of Ukraine". And two years later, on December 6, it was decided to celebrate the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

    Usually the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is celebrated by all the troops of our country: land, air and naval. In different years, the presidents established professional holidays for each of these types of troops (Land Forces Day, Aviation Day, Navy Day), but the "Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" is especially important because on this day the fighting brotherhood between all servicemen.

     Today, the forces of Ukrainian peacekeepers are in great demand throughout the world community, which indicates both high technical capabilities and confidence in the training of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

    Usually on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine there are a lot of solemn events that should show the military how valuable they are for our country. Traditionally, employees of the Armed Forces are greeted annually by the President. Also, on December 6, flowers are laid at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a divine liturgy is held. In addition, many exhibitions and other information events are held on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

    Every day, thousands of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers defend the country on the front lines, guarding its borders on land, in water and in the air.

On the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we want to proudly stand guard over the peace of the homeland, keep the peace and optimism of the soul, keep happiness and kindness in the heart.
